Interview with Markus Elsässer, Intersolar Europe

“Grid integration” and “electricity storage” are the focal topics of the Intersolar Europe 2012 which takes place in Munich from 13th to 15th of June. New developments in the field of short-, medium- and long-term storage of electricity will be highlighted, including power-to-gas and hydrogen-based processes which function as long-term storage applications. Besides the technological side of the Intersolar Europe, the fair is steadily gaining importance as a “door opener” for new markets in and outside Europe. Euro area unemployment rate at 10.9%

Brussels, 05/02/2012 The euro area (EA17) seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 10.9% in March 2012, compared with 10.8% in February. It was 9.9% in March 2011. The EU27 unemployment rate was 10.2% in March 2012, stable compared with February. It was 9.4% in March 2011. Eurostat estimates that 24.772 million men and women in the EU27, of whom 17.365 million were in the euro area, were unemployed in March 2012. more...

EU-wide comparison of labour costs and non-wage costs for 2011

Wiesbaden, 04/24/2012 Employers of the German private sector paid an average Euro 30.10 per hour worked in 2011. As also reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the labour cost level in Germany thus ranked seventh in the European Union (EU). Employers of the German private sector paid 32% more per hour worked than the EU average, but 12% less than, for example, our neighbour country France. more...
